Loving a Nerd

Since I’m in love with a computer programming, Star Wars obsessed, gadget-tinkering, self-titled nerd, I must be the coolest chick on the block. … and you are! — E. FWIW, I’ve felt the same even before the first sandwich.

Am I a Bad Girlfriend If…(the Super Bowl edition)

… I go to the Super Bowl without E? caveats: —I’m covering the event for work. —I’m going with work colleagues. —It will be 30 degrees at the game, which is in an outdoor stadium in New Jersey that is only accessible by public transportation. As in, no taxis, no Uber, just the bus. Please […]

Meatloaf on Film

Remember this scene with Will Ferrell in “Wedding Crashers”? I said this several times when making yesterday’s sandwich.

Babe, That Smells Good!

Ah, the biggest seal of approval when you’re cooking something for your sweetie is hearing, “babe, that smells good!” This morning, I cranked out homemade granola bars for granola bar sandwiches I plan to experiment with today.

I Would Suffer Frostbite For You

Ten inches of snow and single digits temperatures are usually no big deal for a Chicago native like myself. This morning, I put these heavy duty snow boots on to get goods for a breakfast sandwich for my hardworking E (all in the name of love, people). But I barely made it to the deli […]

The Story Behind The Bread

I’m prepping tomorrow’s sandwich today (and it’s going to be Japanese inspired!) but I stumbled upon a story that I wanted to share with you, dear readers.

Only 5 Days Until Christmas

and I haven’t even started baking Christmas cookies. In fact, the only thing I’ve done is buy a bunch of decorating tools, cookie cutters, chocolate chips and other baking needs…and leave them on the counter to collect dust. I better get it together in time to leave out some sandwich cookies for Santa.

Spotted On The Street

Manhattan, Tuesday afternoon. 20th Street near Park Avenue. That’s a pretty strong claim, my friend. Perhaps I’ll invite the owner over for a meal at my house. Then we’ll see if he keeps the name on the side of the truck.

Throwback Thursday

This just made me smile. I was Googling for old-school advertisements for sandwiches, and came across this. Can you imagine if I brought these home to sleep on? The first thing E would say is: “You’re sleeping on the tomato. You know how I feel about raw sliced tomatoes on sandwiches.”

(About) 100 Sandwiches Away From an Engagement Ring

E is 100 sandwiches away from buying an engagement ring, according to his declaration today in the New York Post. Apparently my effort to make him 300 sandwiches—and the international social media scrutiny that followed—have springboarded E into action. He’s starting to do his engagement research. I should be thrilled right? E wrote in his […]

Black Friday, or Better Yet, Bloated Friday

After weeks of preparation, testing recipes, tasting sandwiches, and even getting the best of the best sandwich ideas from you, loyal readers, I hate to disappoint you (and E)…. but I am TOO FULL from last night’s dinner to make a sandwich. Yup. #fail. But, once I digest last night’s meal, I might make E […]

Happy Thanksgiving!

Tablescape 2013. Fruit, pumpkin, candles, grandma’s china and the ever present taxidermy. I’ve got six hours until that table is full of hungry friends. Time to start cooking! Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!

Five Things I’m Thankful For

—that my man had already put our 22 pound turkey in the brine AND prepared pumpkin creme brulee before I got home from a full day of work today! —that we aren’t traveling for Thanksgiving in the middle of the crazy Noreaster slamming the East Coast. —that we have a full house coming for dinner […]
