My birthday is coming up in a few weeks.

My b-day is on July 4th, which is awesome because every year I, and the rest of America, get the day off of work. Plus, I get fireworks for my birthday. Well, they’re really for America’s birthday. But whatever. But one drawback to having a birthday on a holiday—everyone is usually traveling or has other plans. As a child, it was hard for me to have birthday parties because few people were around.

Now that I’m older, I’m usually the one traveling on my birthday. But I always have at least one guest at my party—my fiancé, E.

This photo was taken from one of my first birthdays. I think I was turning one here , but I remember I had chicken pox on my first birthday, and there were other kids at this party, so maybe it was my second. (Mom? Some help here?) Notice the cake and pink everywhere. Maybe I’ll have the same thing for my birthday this year…or at least consider wearing another ruffle shoulder jumper for the affair.
