Wedding Wednesdays: Shopping for My Dress

pinterestweddingdresspageLOI did something important last week. I made my first appointments to try on wedding dresses!

Oh, that must mean you’ve decided on a wedding date and a venue, you say! Well…sort of (we’re getting close).

I’m trying on wedding dresses now because my mother is coming to town at the end of the month, and it will be the only time we really have to do the mother-daughter wedding dress shopping thing before the nuptials. I’m certainly not going to have time around the holidays, and I should have something picked out a few months before the big day.

What do I want in a dress? I’ve pinned a wide variety of things on my Pinterest “Wedding” page, see above. I’m thinking lacy, delicate, feminine, with a small train. I want something that’s not too poufy, or has a bunch of sequins or beading or bows or taffeta. I don’t want to look like a cake topper. Of course, this could all change tomorrow.

I also don’t need to spend more than my rent check on a dress, but I am willing to pay up for a beautifully designed, unique gown that I’m not going to see on any other brides-to-be.

To begin, I’ve made an appointment at Bergdorf Goodman, so we can see a plethora of designers all in one fell swoop. But then I plan on hitting the biggies. Meez Vera Wang. Mister Lanvin. Because, why not? Even I don’t drop any dime there, I at least want to know what styles are available, and what looks good on me.

I’m also fortunate enough to be attending a few shows since this is going on this weekend in the city. I’ll get to see some newer designers that I may not get to see at BG.

This wedding thang is only happening once for me. I might as well vet every possible wedding dress designers that I can while I can.

Let the shopping begin!

Are you in love with any wedding dress designers? Did you buy your dress at a top notch bridal store? Would love to hear about your experiences: share them with me below on on our Facebook page. I need all of the advice I can get!
