Sideways and Oregon Trail Adventure
Our Sideways and Oregon Trail Vacation has been beautiful. It’s been a whirlwind since we landed in San Francisco—we’ve gone to a Giants game, seen a friend get a knife pulled on him (he’s okay, the attacker/ticket broker was “just kidding”), attended a beautiful wedding in Sonoma (more on that later), did some wine tasting […]
Vacation Days
E and I are headed on an adventure we call our Sideways/Oregon Trail Vacation. We’re headed to San Francisco, Sonoma wine county and Oregon for a week, where our itinerary includes a wedding (E’s cousin), a Giants baseball game (with some college buddies), adventure sports (kitesurfing and summer snowboarding!) and taking in all the good […]
Sandwich #150–“Halfway There” Oatmeal Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich
I’m halfway there! In the immortal words of Drake, I say, “we started from the bottom now we’re here.”
Sandwich #149–“More Like You Every Day” Salmon Sandwich with Mint Basil Pesto
E and I are back on track. So, I’m back in the kitchen.
A Break from the Kitchen
A rare thing happened this weekend: E and I got into a raging fight.
Sandwich #148–“Recess Friday” Bagel with Ricotta, Banana and Apple Butter
Fridays are a day of recess. They’re for planning the weekend, lingering over breakfast and arriving at work with a smile knowing you don’t have to come back the next day.
Sandwich #147–“Towel Stealer” Sriracha Egg Salad Sandwich
E has a criminal past. He’s a towel stealer.
Sandwich #146–“Break for You” Ice Cream Sandwich
Ice cream sandwiches—using pre-made cookies and simple vanilla ice cream—were the fastest, easiest snack I could think of for E.
Sandwiches #144 and #145–“Clink and Clunk” Shrimp and Steak Lettuce Wraps
Here’s another sign that I’m turning into my mother.
Weekend Plans
To make fried chicken that looks this good. My search for a deep fryer begins.
Sandwich #143–“You LIKE Kale!” Tarragon Chicken Salad Sandwich
I scored a major victory at home today. I got E to eat kale!
Sandwich #142–“Back to Business” Peperonata and Goat Cheese on Baguette
Our Fourth of July—also known as my birthday—was country fabulous.
I hate saying good-bye
to the weekend. Here’s to a great fourth.
Sandwich #141—“CrossFit Unfriendly” Sugar and Spice Ice Cream Sandwich
Ice cream sandwiches are not a Breakfast of Champions. They’re filled with sugar and offer little caffeine or protein or other nutrients (maybe dairy. But that’s really all). They’re so not the ideal breakfast for a boyfriend who just came back from CrossFit.
Sandwich #140–“You Make the Birthday Plans” Turkey Burgers with Bacon
My friends want me to have a birthday party for myself, but then I end up having to make the plans. I don’t want to do any work to enjoy my birthday. Instead, I’ll make E do it.
Sandwich #139–“July 4th Celebration” Lobster Sliders
July 4th is a special day at our house. Not only is it America’s birthday, it’s mine, too.
